Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday railed against a Justice Department investigation into his efforts to remain in power after losing the 2020 election hours after he said he was a target of the probe.Trump, in his first on-camera comments on the investigation, told Fox News’ Sean Hannity during a town hall in Iowa that he was bothered by the timing of the notification. He went on to repeat his claims that he is being targeted because of his standing in the GOP presidential primary race.“It bothers me. It bothers me for everybody in this incredible, sold out audience, and it bothers you,” the former president said in front of the overwhelmingly pro-Trump crowd.“I got the letter on Sunday night. Think of it. I don’t think they’ve ever sent a letter on Sunday night,” Trump continued. “And they’re in a rush because they want to interfere. It’s interference with the election. It’s election interference. Never been done like this in the history of our country, and it’s a disgrace.”...Second positive West Nile virus mosquito trap sample reported in Williamson Co.

SEATTLE — Mired in an 0-for-29 batting slump, Byron Buxton was given the day off when the Twins played the Seattle Mariners late Tuesday at T-Mobile Park.“It’s not just for one particular reason,” manager Rocco Baldelli said. “He was going to get a day in Seattle his first week back (from the break) at some point, anyway. He’s grinding at the plate right now, but it’s just a combination of a couple of things.”After going 0 for 5 with three strikeouts in Monday’s 7-6 loss to the Mariners, Buxton has six total hits in July with an on-base percentage of .192. Although he ranks second among teammates with 15 home runs and 36 runs batted in, he’s now hitting .196 in 77 games.“He’s healthy,” Baldelli said. That, however, is relative. Buxton, 29, has been limited to designated hitter duties this season. One of the best center fielders in baseball, he hasn’t played a single game on defense.Buxton has, however, broached the subject with the staff, Baldelli said, but it’s essentially a non-sta...Comeback, and new high from Collier, can’t save Lynx in Atlanta

It was all but lost for the Lynx early in Tuesday’s game in Atlanta.Minnesota was down 22 points at one point late in the first half, looking like a similar team to the one that gave up 100+ points in consecutive games before the all-star break. After halftime, though, the Lynx locked down defensively and nearly came all the way back. Minnesota lost 82-73 on Tuesday to Atlanta and didn’t complete the comeback, but the Lynx brought the game to within one basket thanks to a much-improved defensive showing.“I thought our second half was really good defensively,” forward Napheesa Collier said. “We were almost there. I feel like that was a really winnable game, even though we were down a lot in the first half. We were within four points a couple of times, and for some reason, we couldn’t close the gap enough to pull out a win.”Right after the game started, the Lynx quickly found themselves down 8-0. Shades of the defensive woes that plagued them in two blowout losses last week appeared ag...Twins scheming a lineup that includes Jorge Polanco and Edouard Julien

SEATTLE — Edouard Julien is keenly aware that Jorge Polanco is three games into a rehab assignment with St. Paul, which means his defensive position with the Twins is about to be reclaimed by the incumbent.“It’s tough to not think about it when the … biggest reason why you’re here is because the second baseman’s hurt,” he said. The Twins aren’t just going to option one of their best hitters back to the minors, but where would they put Julien if Polanco is at second?“That’s a legit thing that’s coming our way right now,” manager Rocco Baldelli said before Tuesday night’s 8:40 p.m. CDT first pitch against the Mariners at T-Mobile Park. The conversation among Baldelli and his coaches has already begun, although it hasn’t yet trickled down to Julien. After going 3 for 4 with a walk and run scored in Monday’s 7-6 loss to the Mariners, the rookie is hitting .354 with nine doubles, three home runs, six runs batted in and 13 runs scored since being re...Car goes airborne, crashing into Lemay home, killing driver
