Tennessee football to vacate wins from 2019-20 for NCAA violations

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee’s football program must vacate all 11 of its wins from the 2019 and 2020 seasons under coach Jeremy Pruitt as part of penalties handed down by the NCAA for multiple violations.A school spokesman confirmed on Sunday the Vols’ eight wins in 2019 and three in 2020 will be vacated and will be reflected in the program’s record book. Pruitt’s final record is now 5-19, and the school’s all-time record is 856-410-53.The vacated wins are part of the penalties from the NCAA from a report that outlined more than 200 violations during Pruitt’s three-year tenure in Knoxville. Tennessee was fined $8 million and four staffers, including Pruitt, were given show-cause orders for infractions detailed in the more than 80-page report. Pruitt was fired in early 2021 and was given a six-year show-cause order. DENVER (KDVR) -- A bike shop just tucked away off Colfax became the target of thieves last week when they broke the front door and stole three bikes. “I found three customer bikes had been stolen," Ian Ancelin, the owner of the Velowood Cyclery, said. "They were all full suspension mountain bikes." Ancelin has owned the shop since 2018 and said he does a lot of repair work on bikes. He said the three bikes stolen were all very expensive, and he believes the thieves knew that because they didn't take anything else. "It's probably around $20,000 worth of bikes," Ancelin said. He has put in an insurance claim but said he isn't sure exactly how much it will cover.He said he also contacted the customers of his who owned the bikes to let them know what happened. “Right now, we will very likely have to pay a lot out of pocket as well," Ancelin said. HAMPTON, Ga. (AP) — Officers on Sunday shot and killed a man wanted in four weekend killings near Atlanta during an exchange of gunfire, with a sheriff’s deputy and two police officers wounded while trying to take the suspect into custody, authorities said.Officials said Andre Longmore was shot during an intense manhunt for the 40-year-old suspect. A Newton man was charged with assault in connection to the death of his wife Saturday evening, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s office.Richard Hanson, 64, was charged with assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on Saturday. Hanson allegedly fatally assaulted his wife, Nancy, in their Brookline Street residence Saturday evening, officials said.Police received a call from a juvenile inside of the Brookline Street home just before 8:30 p.m. Saturday night and found Nancy Hanson suffering blunt force injuries, officials said. She was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital where she was then pronounced dead.The Office of Chief Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide caused by blunt force trauma.
