In New York, a cruise ship terminal was turned into a shelter. In Denver, the number of migrants arriving has increased tenfold and available space to shelter them has withered. With fewer available work authorizations, these migrants cannot find work that would allow them to get into proper housing.Denver Mayor Mike Johnston, who is leading the coalition, said nearly every conversation he has had with arriving migrants is the same...

Ask players why they came to St. Paul, many from all parts of the country, to play men’s college basketball at Macalester, the first word out of their mouth is “Abe.”They believed in who head coach Abe Woldeslassie was and the confidence he exuded in his vision to lift the program to new heights. They wanted to join Woldeslassie’s construction project to experience what it was like to truly build something.“It looks like it’s working so far,” said junior guard Caleb Williams, who was third in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference scoring last season at 21.5 points per game.Woldeslassie, a Macalester alum, is in sixth season at the helm of the Scots’ program. In the season prior to his arrival, the Scots went 3-22 — a bad season that, frankly, was par for the program’s course.Every year under Woldeslassie’s guidance, the Scots have improved.“And this is the first year where I feel like we are MIAC favorites,” the coach said. “I believe we are a top-25 team in the country ...
