SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — The same storm dumping record-breaking rain on the Denver metro area is also dropping several inches of snow in the high country. Summit County, Rocky Mountain National Park, Medicine Bow Range, Mosquito Range and Indian Peaks are under a winter storm warning until 12 p.m. Friday.“It is not unusual. We get some of our best precipitation and moisture from March to May, and over the years we seem to be morphing to a little bit of those early May storms,” Rocky Mountain National Park public affairs officer Kyle Patterson said. Rainfall record broken at Denver International Airport However, Patterson said at this time of year, visitors regularly arrive to the park unprepared for winter weather. “They’re looking at the date on the calendar and think, it’s spring,” she said. “We see visitors that are not prepared for three feet of snow at Bear Lake, which is what we have right now.”Areas above 10,000 feet are expected to see the highest snow totals. PARKER, Colo. (KDVR) — Many homeowners have questions about how to find a reliable contractor to repair roofs, siding and broken windows after this week’s rain and hail storms. Golf ball-sized hail destroyed the sunroof on Stefanie Neubecker's home. “It’s completely gone, as you can tell the rain is all coming through,” she said. Neubecker’s main concern is finding a trustworthy contractor to make the needed repairs. Jeff Brown of Colorado Superior Roofing and Exteriors told the FOX31 Problem Solvers the first thing homeowners should do is take a good look around the property and estimate the damage. “If you’ve got damage on your car, for example, if you’ve got damage on your windows or siding, other soft metals, like you see dents in your gutters, you may have roof damage,” Brown said. What to know before you file a claim for hail damage Brown, who is also a member of the Colorado Roofing Association, said that potential contractors should be properly licensed to do work in your...Jayson Tatum overcomes early struggles, delivers late as Celtics beat 76ers, force Game 7

Officials from Japan and South Korea eyed a potential visit by South Korean experts to the Fukushima nuclear plant before it begins the controversial release of treated but radioactive water to sea. It’s one of their major sticking points between the two sides that are quickly thawing long-strained ties. Discussions were to take place later Friday, and the Japanese government was expected to give updates on the status of the tsunami-wrecked Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, which is preparing for a release of the water, saying it’s an unavoidable step to move its decommissioning process forward. The government and the plant’s operator, Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, say the release will begin between spring and summer and take decades to finish.A massive earthquake and tsunami in 2011 destroyed the Fukushima Daiichi plant’s cooling systems, causing three reactors to melt and release large amounts of radiation. Water used to cool the three damaged reactor core...Philippine court acquits former justice secretary of drug charges after key witnesses said they lied

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — A former Philippine opposition senator and justice secretary was acquitted of drug charges Friday after key witnesses recanted and said they had lied about her involvement in narcotics trafficking.Leila de Lima, 63, remained jailed, however, as she has one outstanding charge against her. De Lima has been detained since 2017 on drug charges she says were fabricated by former President Rodrigo Duterte and his officials in an attempt to muzzle her criticism of his deadly crackdown on illegal drugs. His campaign left thousands of mostly petty suspects dead and sparked an International Criminal Court investigation as a possible crime against humanity.Duterte, who has insisted on de Lima’s guilt, left office last June at the end of his turbulent six-year term.Trial court judge Abraham Alcantara said in his ruling that a former senior police official’s recantation led to his decision to acquit de Lima.“Without his testimony, the crucial link to establish co...Memphis ‘snake factory’ transplants slither into their new home in Louisiana

BENTLEY, La. (AP) — They were born and raised in captivity, but as they slowly slithered away from their handlers and disappeared into gopher holes in the Kisatchie National Forest, the group of Louisiana pine snakes appeared to be right at home. The five pine snakes bred at the Memphis Zoo in Tennessee were released into the Kisatchie in early May as part of an ongoing conservation effort involving zoos in Memphis, New Orleans and two Texas cities, Fort Worth and Lufkin. This year, more than 100 pine snakes — a species the federal government lists as threatened — will be released into the central Louisiana forest.“We provide the snakes in our snake factories, which are funded by the U.S. Forest Service, into habitat that the Fish and Wildlife Service and Forest Service have developed,” said Steve Reichling, the Memphis Zoo’s Director of Conservation and Research. “It’s just a perfect marriage, really.”Reichling said the characteristics of the area where the snakes were r...For Buffalo shooting victims’ kin, Mother’s Day is a reminder of loss, a lesson in navigating grief
